In the Department of Teacher Education, undergraduates study traditional education and explore issues in the field of educational philosophy, theory and methodology through a variety of professional activities.
Education majors and minors develop knowledge and pedagogical skills through curriculum based on current research and effective practice. Students also have the opportunity to study at Webster University's international campuses, participate in conferences and prepare for teaching in diverse classroom environments.

Apprentice Teaching
All Education degree students complete their degree with teaching experience. Apprentice teaching placements are with the St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. Charles County and Jefferson County School Districts along with private and independent schools.
Combine Your Degree with a STEM Double Major
Students pursuing the BA in Education with an Emphasis in Secondary Biology, Chemistry or Mathematics who declare a double major in a STEM-related field (Biology, Chemistry, Math or Computer Science) may apply for the WESTbound Success Scholarship, with up to $15,000 per academic year for their junior and senior years. Transfer students are also eligible.

What Can You Do with an Education Degree?
All of our BA in Education degrees are designed to provide the foundation for teacher preparation leading to initial Missouri teacher certification and are approved by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Career Outlook for Education Graduates
According to The Missouri Economic Research and Education Center, Missouri jobs in elementary education, middle school education and secondary school education are expected to grow by 5%-6% over the next decade. Jobs related to teaching and educational instruction have a positive outlook, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Additionally, there is a considerable shortage of teachers in all three education fields, according to the American Association for Employment in Education 2020-2021 Supply and Demand Report.
